Is The Cineworld VIP Experience Worth It?

Going to the cinema remains a popular way to spend an evening or weekend. Whether on a date or with family and friends, it’s an activity that everyone can enjoy (except babies). Cineworld is one of the most popular movie theatres in the world. They offer a range of viewing experiences, from 4DX to private screenings. One of their most elite services is the Cineworld VIP package.

The Cineworld VIP experience is offered in their key locations at a higher price point. The question many people ask themselves is if it’s worth the money. Last year, I experienced VIP for the first time when I went to see Free Guy a few weeks after its release. This article post will review the VIP experience’s four key selling points to help you decide whether you should buy it. Let’s take a look.

Cost

Before we delve in, let’s take a quick look at costs. The price varies depending on the movie and timing, but you can expect to pay £30.99 – £34.99 unless you’re in York, where prices start from £19.99. It’s a few pounds cheaper if you have a Cineworld membership. For Cineworld VIP, adults and children pay the same price.

Exclusive Lounge

The VIP treatment begins as soon as you walk into Cineworld. In the O2 London branch, it has a special entrance with a nicely lit tunnel to walk through. The floor is red as if it’s a red carpet and you’re on your way to a premiere.

Cineworld advises that you arrive 45 minutes before the movie starts to make the most out of their exclusive lounge. This is a private area reserved just for VIP customers. The complimentary dining is on one side, and the bar where you can purchase drinks is on the other. The whole place looks sleek and modern and has a premium feel.

Complimentary Dining

If you like Italian food, then you’re in the right spot because they’ve got pizza, pasta and a whole range of other food for you to enjoy.

The dessert section is filled with doughnuts, cakes and a self-serve ice cream machine with different toppings. If you’re with kids, this will be super fun and tasty treat for them. I suspect the pizza is oven Chicago Town pizza, a good pizza brand, but it would have been more impressive if it had been homemade.

The trick with the complimentary dining is to leave room in your stomach to enjoy the unlimited snack. You do need to leave when the film begins because the time slot for the next movie starts, so you don’t want to be late for the dining.

Unlimited Cinema Snacks

This is where the VIP experience gets really cool. An unlimited amount of popcorn, hotdogs and nachos are available for your consumption. There’s also a refillable drinks machine with all your favourites.

The snacks are in the lounge, which is connected to your screen room, so you can quickly grab more snacks during the movie. If you’re someone who doesn’t like to miss a second of the movie, I recommend grabbing all your snacks during the adverts. No one is policing it, so you might as well grab enough for the journey home.

Luxury Reclining Seats

You go to the cinema to watch a movie, so the best part of this experience is being able to watch the movie whilst reclining. Cineworld already offers decent leg room, but their reclining chairs are on a new level.

The seats are wide and soft with an easy-to-use control panel that allows you to sit back, relax and put your feet up. There’s ample space that when you’re reclined, people can still walk past your chair without you having to move.

My group was the only ones in the movie theatre, so we had the whole theatre to ourselves; it was like we had booked a private screening. That won’t always be the case, especially if you go during a movie’s opening weekend, so if you prefer a packed theatre, don’t be discouraged.

Is the Cineworld VIP Experience Worth It?

Yes! They offer a luxury experience from when you enter to when you leave. The place is aesthetically pleasing, the food is tasty, and the viewing experience is top-notch. You get your value for money.

It’s also very convenient. It’s easier to have lunch or dinner there than to eat elsewhere and rush to make it to the movie on time. If you plan on grabbing a meal anyway, why not pay a bit more and improve the whole cinema experience.

I wouldn’t recommend it every time you go to the cinema, two or three times a year is enough. You don’t want to overdo it and make it less memorable. Plus, the menu doesn’t change, so you’ll get bored if you’re a frequent cinema-goer or vegan/vegetarian. Overall, Cineworld VIP is a great experience, and I highly recommend it.
